Anxiety let's talk
CBD or cannabidiol is the second most active cannabinoid present in cannabis after the well known THC. Those who use marijuana for therapeutic purposes and the countries of the world that allow it for sale do so due to the presence of this precious non-psychotropic active ingredient. Anxiety let's talk.
It is not a psychoactive principle - it does not bust - indeed it is believed to be able to contain and calibrate the psychoactive effects of THC.
In practical terms it means that the varieties of hemp that have high levels of THC and CBD will cause their effects by keeping the mind clearer while without the action of CBD the result is more exhilarating and difficult to manage.
In medicine CBD is used to treat disorders related to chronic pain, migraines, inflammation and arthritis, spasms and epilepsy, schizophrenia.
Studies are under way to find new applications for this active ingredient that nature has given us.
How the CBD works
CBD is the second most important cannabinoid present in marijuana. It is often found in lower percentages than THC, the best known active ingredient to which we must "boil" but is the most important for those who want to use cannabis for therapeutic purposes.
Cannabidiol acts on the nervous system, in particular on some of our neuroreceptors and causes a reaction of pain relief but also anxiety and stress. Its particular chemical conformation "imitates" the neuro transmitters that we normally produce to cope with pain, just as if it were a psycho-drug, and for this it stimulates the body to react in a completely natural way.
For this we can say that CBD stimulates the nervous system to react to pain and make it more bearable, even if it does not completely disappear as it acts on the symptoms and not on the causes of chronic pain. Causes that for many people unfortunately are not treatable or curable. However, since Cannabis is mainly cultivated for recreational purposes, there are not many varieties available that contain high concentrations of CBD, above all because of its limitation and containment effects towards THC. As always, this is a question of markets and consumer demands.
However, there are varieties of marijuana grown specifically for medical purposes that contain high concentrations of Cannabidiol - although obviously all varieties contain it so they can also be used for medical purposes.
Cannabis species with the same amount of CBD and THC are known for their particularly potent effects but associated with great mental clarity, because the psychoactive components of THC are "controlled" by the CBD.
Even this is therefore an optimal solution for those seeking a therapeutic purpose and relief from chronic pain without giving up the funniest aspects of marijuana.
To choose and buy the right variety of marijuana it must be taken into account that the Cannabidiol is active if its percentage goes from 0.6 and 1% or more.
In fact, the varieties cultivated solely for medical purposes can have a CBD concentration of more than 6%!
The incredible properties of CBD oil
If you want to take a daily dose of cannabidiol to treat yourself without the side effects (boiling) derived from the use of cannabis you can use CBD oil.
These oils are produced starting from a pure CBD paste extracted from cannabis and diluted with other vegetable, olive or hemp oils, which make it easily conserved and dosable.
In this way it can be consumed directly with the dropper or added to food.
This oil contains no chemicals or other active ingredients besides cannabidiol and is therefore absolutely safe for therapeutic use. Structure of cannabidiol and chemical action
Cannabidiol C21H30O2 is an active ingredient in marijuana also used in traditional western medicine. For example, since 2005 Canada has authorized its use in the treatment of multiple sclerosis.
There are many independent studies that confirm its effectiveness in stimulating neuroreceptors. In 2012 a large study was published by The British Pharmacological Society which certifies the functioning of this molecule and its fields of use:
- As an antiemetic, CBD effectively reduces nausea and vomiting.
- As an anticonvulsant it is able to hinder seizures. As a neuroleptic it can be used in psychiatry to treat psychosis and to reduce anxiety and depression.
- As an anti-inflammatory it can be used in diseases that cause inflammation of the tissues or as an adjuvant in the aggressive treatments that cause them.
- In some types of cancer it has been associated with a reduction in diffusion.
- Finally it has an antioxidant action, ie it fights the degeneration of the brain cells.
Below we propose a table with the three main active chemical compounds, or cannabinoids present in marijuana:
Applications in medicine
Currently, CBD is used in the treatment of a wide variety of disorders, in fact in addition to its active properties is also a natural analgesic and painkiller so is often associated with the treatment of symptoms and complementary therapies for the treatment of side effects.
It is used in the treatment of diabetes, epilepsy, rheumatoid arthritis, antibiotic-resistant infections.
Psychological and neurological disorders can also be treated with CBD such as post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety and depression. It is used in the treatment of alcoholism and other addictions.
Many applications are taking advantage of the antioxidant properties to counteract the brain degeneration of diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. Finally it has been shown that in some types of cancer, such as breast cancer, and tumor cells has a cytotoxic effect (kills cells) while it is harmless to healthy cells.
Cannabidiol and cancer
In 2007 the California Pacific Medical Center Research Institute published a study on the inhibitory properties of cannabidiol compared to breast cancer tumor cells.
This study demonstrates how CBD is able to inhibit the activity of the Id-1 gene which is the one that regulates the spread of the tumor from the initial site - that is, the formation of metastases. In practice, CBD prevents the formation of new metastases!
An extraordinary discovery that gives new hope to the fight against cancer: the CBD from simple treatment for the side effects of chemiotherapy is a candidate to be a valid substitute. As far as its consumption is concerned, no side effects are associated with the body - not even "high" since it is used in medical applications without THC.
Cannabidiol is tested in the major anti-tumor centers, alongside the more aggressive therapies such as chemo and radiotherapy, and we hope it will soon be available as a natural alternative and easier to tolerate for an organism already weakened by the disease.
Intake: cannabidiol CBD
There are many states in the world that allow the use of cannabis to treat diseases. Depending on the type of plant, the active ingredients emanating from the vaporization have different quantities and ratios. When consumers have a therapeutic purpose they tend to favor those with a high CBD content.
Not only that: because of its containment effects compared to THC this ingredient is also widely appreciated by those who make recreational use of cannabis without getting too high and want to keep their mind clear and controlled.
In fact THC is responsible for the lethargy typical of marijuana consumption and is not always compatible with modern active and working life.
CBD oil and legalization of therapeutic cannabis
Since CBD has no psychotropic effects whatsoever, it does not fall under narcotics regulated by law and its application in the medical field or as a supplement is completely legal.
Naturally its analgesic and anxiolytic action is strongly amplified by the joint assumption with THC, as happens by vaporising marijuana. In fact THC has strong sedative and anti-inflammatory properties as well as a different chemical composition which greatly affects the stimulated neuro transmitters by taking them together or distinct.
We have already spoken about the contrast action that the CBD operates on the most extreme effects of THC.
Despite this, the intake of CBD as a food supplement or a cure for an ongoing disease can be really beneficial for the body.
This is why the sale of CBD is legal in all countries.
